In 2014 HLN branded itself as the first U.S. TV home for the social media generation.
During Luke Burke's time at Headline News (HLN), he served in several roles from Social Media Producer, Editorial Producer, and Newsgathring.
Luke was responsible for delivering more than a 90% increase in social engagement after implementing his social strategy for the Jane Velez-Mitchell show. After several stories of deaths of civilians from police shootings, Luke recommended that Jane use and promote the hashtag #badgecamsnow during one of the primetime broadcasts. The hashtag went viral and trended -- peaking at #1 on twitter during the shows live hour.
Luke had the pleasure of being a part of the team that developed the HLN Newsgathering department. As Editorial producer Luke had a consistent track record of booking exclusive guests for the Dr. Drew show, HLN channel, and CNN Networks.
